Dr. Kirsten van Langevelde is a musculoskeletal radiologist who graduated from medical school in Leiden. She obtained a PhD in clinical epidemiology, with research focussed on magnetic resonance imaging and risk factors of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Her radiology residency took place at the LUMC in Leiden, at the HAGA teaching hospital The Hague, and Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli Bologna (Italy). She undertook a one year clinical fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, and a visiting clinical fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore (United Kingdom).
Her main clinical and research interests lie in the field of bone and soft tissue tumours. She is an enthusiastic teacher and the MSK fellowship trainer at the LUMC. She is the radiological lead of FOSTER consortium and member of the EORTC imaging group.
She is an active member of both national and international societies: NVvR, DSG, ESSR, ESR, ISS, and EMSOS.

Wetenschappelijk onderzoek
Research interests within the field of bone and soft tissue tumours, such as chondroid tumors (dedicated topic on the teaching website Radiology assistant: The Radiology Assistant : Cartilage tumors), osteosarcoma, giant cell tumours of bone and tenosynovial giant cell tumours (TGCT).
Currently working on synthetic CT or “bone MRI” for the preoperative merging of images in bone tumours.
